Sony Considering Price Cuts
Edge
Tuesday, February 6th, 2007
|
|
Takao Yuhara, Senior Vice President of Sony, has announced Sony's plans for its gaming division, and that its intention is to 'break even' by March 2008, mentioning that "such factors, including price cuts to some extent, are factored in."
This could include a possible price cut to the PS3, which has already been cut in price in Japan by around $85. This may also include price cuts to games and hardware for Sony consoles. The move comes after announcement of a total loss of $455 million in the third quarter of 2006.
It also comes as little surprise due to the underwhelming performance of the PS3, with stories of consoles being given back to stores and the console itself being in little demand compared to its rival consoles Wii and the XBox 360.
More on this news as it comes.
